A Type I Civilization can use 100% of the energy available on its home planet—that means everything: solar, wind, geothermal, ocean waves, and more.
They could control global weather, stop earthquakes, and light up cities with clean energy

Type II – Rulers of the Star – Steller Civilization

Now imagine a civilization so advanced, they don’t just rely on their planet they capture all the energy from their star. They might build something like a Dyson Sphere a giant shell or swarm of satellites collecting solar power 24/7.With that much energy, they could power entire planets, fuel interstellar ships, or even create artificial worlds Sounds like science fiction? Maybe. But it’s also science possible

Type III – Commanders of the Galaxy- Galactic Civilization

This is the big one.A Type III Civilization uses the energy of an entire galaxy ,billions of stars. 🌟
Can controll stars, black holes, and intersteller systems. They might travel across the Milky Way, mine energy from quasars, and build megastructures around black holes. At this level, their technology could look like magic to us. They could live for millions of years, evolve beyond biology, or even communicate across galaxies

Wait, There’s More?

Yes! Some scientists go beyond Kardashev’s original idea.
– Type IV: Uses the energy of the entire universe
– Type V: Controls multiple universes — if they exist 😱
These are completely theoretical, but they stretch our imagination to its limit. And sometimes, that’s where science begins.

Right now, we humans are at about 0.73 on the scale type I. The Kardashev Scale shows us a ladder to the stars.
And every clean energy breakthrough, every science mission, every SEDS member learning and sharing knowledge… is one small step up that ladder. We’re still young, barely toddlers in cosmic time. But we have dreams. Fire. Curiosity. A desire to reach beyond. And if we keep climbing, one day we just might become the civilization others look up to… across the stars.

more curious, just watch this

Ever wondered how we might measure the progress of an entire civilization ?
